The Sun Devils have improved a lot over the past couple of seasons. Their quick, persistent defense pretty well shut down the perimeter tonight. The Cardinal attempted only six shots from beyond the arc — Taylor, Bonnie and Karlie each made one.
But the Sun Devils were no match for the Cardinal otherwise on either offense or defense. The Cardinal made 54% of their shots — the Sun Devils made 32%.
Chiney made her 15th double-double and her ninth 30-point game of the season look easy. In addition to her 30 points and 16 rebounds, she blocked three shots.Taylor was outstanding tonight. Denied at the perimeter, she made four of six strong layups (on Chiney-like moves) and all three of her free throws for a total of 14 points. She also had four assists and five rebounds.
Karlie made good moves on the inside too. She succeeded on one layup and drew fouls on several other attempts. She made six of her seven free throws for a total of 11 points. She also had an assist, a block and a steal.
Lili also scored 11 points on five-of-nine shooting. She also had four assists, two steals and two rebounds.
Mikaela made her usual indispensable contributions — 11 rebounds, five assists, half her free throws (one) and not quite enough points for a double-double (nine).
