Farewell to the FBC website

Dave and I have been avid fans of Stanford women's basketball since March 26, 1994. We live near Stanford and had no plans for that weekend. On a whim, we decided to go to the women's basketball game at Maples Pavilion. It was the NCAA Elite Eight game and we came away smitten with the sport and with the Cardinal.

They've been a major presence in our lives — giving us much excitement and joy (and occasional despair) — for more than 20 years.

That pleasure has been enhanced for me by the FBC Website, which I began managing in the 2005-6 season. I briefly resigned from my self-appointed job a couple of years ago, but quickly returned to it when I realized how much I would miss it.

Now there is no turning back. I have a medical condition that will, I hope, allow me to enjoy another season of being a Cardinal fan, but that leaves me insufficient energy to continue the website. So I'm going to delete it next week before the first game of the upcoming season.

Another of my great pleasures has been knowing that the website has also enhanced the joy of being a Stanford women's basketball fan for many of you.

Go Cardinal!!

I am devastated. The Fast Break Club was a tremendous resource to Stanford WBB fans and it had become integral to my enjoyment of the game. From the scouting reports to the gathering of post-game reports and commentary, the site took a two hour long game and turned it into several days of enjoyment. Plus there was a lot of very good writing on the site!

I am so, so sorry that the site is coming to an end

Thank you Marian for the very fine work you have done for so many years. It has been deeply appreciated and will now be sorely missed.

Hope the best for you, but such a loss for the fans. Would be great if Stanford picked it up, but maybe they can't. :(

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marian and Dave. The FBC website has been a regular and important site for me and I will truly miss it. Your dedication to the team and the wide range of team information that you manage to find and post and link has been an outstanding contribution to Stanford WBB fans. Thanks for extending your work these last few years and best wishes to you both. You have shown us all what it means to be a supportive fan of Stanford Women's Basketball.

Marian, Thank you so much for being such a great Stanford women's basketball fan and managing the FBC website. The website's existence gave fans a place to find important and interesting information, as well as a home for our booster activities. I've used it regularly since 2005! Your dedication to keeping it current has been amazing. Thank you!!!!

Marian,
I am deeply sorry that you are experiencing ill health and will be unable to continue your fine work in hosting and managing the Fast Break Club website. My wife and I make frequent visits to the site to get up to date information on the team and critical data that help us to be better fans. I note with sadness that the site will be deleted before the season begins. I would think that a much better option would be to find someone to take over the site and carry on your fine work. I'm sure that someone could step up and take on this task.
