On the way home after a recent practice, Tara VanDerveer found herself stopping at the grocery store to buy ingredients for her special M&M's rice crispy treats.
Her Stanford women's basketball team was only seven sessions in and she already had determined the players deserved treats, which the longtime Cardinal coach has been making several times a season for years.
Or not at all, for some teams.
"I call it symbolic,'' said VanDerveer, who begins her 21st season at Stanford with a fresh six-year contract extension. "It's that kind of team. It's a sweet team." (More ...)
