Still no Bay Area rivalry in women's basketball

Cal's recent progress in the sport promised to do more than humble folks on the Farm. Women's basketball needs a hearty rivalry on the West Coast, something to counter the growing oligarchy in the ACC, which holds the top three spots in the national poll (Maryland, North Carolina and Duke). Cal still can't find a way past Stanford

The Cardinal dealt the Bears a crushing defeat Saturday, 69-44, to extend Stanford's win streak in the lopsided series to 14 games.
