No current Cardinal at Kezar

The San Francisco Bay Area Pro_Am summer basketball league has posted the 2013 rosters, and the only Cardinal who has signed up to play is alum Markisha Coleman ('07).

I'm sad about that. For years (except last summer) I have enjoyed seeing our incoming freshmen and upper classmen play in the summer league. I went one or two Saturdays last year, but it's just not the same without our Stanford student athletes. I hope they reconsider in future years.

Agreed completely. Why aren't they playing?

Freshmen are now enrolling early, for the summer quarter prior to their actual freshman year, and getting to participate in team activities then. I think the rules may have changed to allow more team activities during summer too ... Or maybe I'm wrong there and it is still only working with the strength and conditioning coach that's allowed. Anyway, it seemed like mostly entering freshmen who participated at Kezar in prior years.

The new rule allows two hours of full instruction and six hours of strength and conditioning per week, spread out over eight weeks (16 total hours).

Also, the team is travelling to Italy in August.

In the past, there were always upperclass Cardinal at Kezar too – they were the ones who drove!
