The Zags and the Cardinal waged a fierce defensive battle for 40 minutes — the Cardinal's was the most effective where it counted and they won 73-45.
The Cardinal defense pretty well shut down the Zags' good outside shooters. They made zero of 14 3-point attempts and connected on just nine shots outside the paint.
The Zag defense slowed down Chiney a bit, but the Cardinal earned its victory with a great team effort.
Three Cardinals scored in double digits — Chiney (19), Kailee (11) and Amber (10).
Five sank 3-pointers — Sara (2 of 4), Kailee (2 of 3), Jasmine (2 of 2), Bonnie (1 of 3) and Amber (1 of 1).
The team is back to almost full strength for the first time this season. Taylor played for 11 minutes. She missed her 3-point shot, but scored on a jumper and a beautiful reverse layup.
Bonnie is not yet back to full strength, but played for seven minutes. Erica P. has just been cleared to play full court and came in for the last two minutes of the game. Briana did not play, but she was in uniform and participated in the warmup.
Only Karlie was completely out of action. She has suffered a not-serious mid-foot injury and will likely be OK for the Tennessee game next weekend.
