Joseph Persons (The State) reports that Dawn Staley, in her first year as coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks, inherited a schedule from former coach Susan Walvius that includes each of last season's Final Four participants, beginning tonight with Stanford.
Despite taking over a team with only three seniors, Staley never considered calling Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer, her coach on the 1996 Olympic team, to ask about pushing the game back a year or two.
