One more season for JJ and Mel?

JJ had microfracture surgery on her knee last week and Mel will soon. It will take at least six months to know if their knees have healed enough to allow them to play one more season.

JJ said, "We are hoping to come back next year and hoping to be able to play. If not, we gave it a good run.”

Michelle Smith gives more information in this post to her blog, LeftCoastHoops.

JJ has been an exceptional player for Stanford. Her performance since the knee operations has been limited but still excellent, because she has such extraordinary court sense and situational awareness. As Tara has said,"she's our quarterback." Like Jayne Appel, she contributed solid basketball in spite of not being able to do full practices. I'm one of a host of alumni and fans who root for the Oregon girl. Here's to a really successful outcome from her microfracture surgery. HA pills could stimulate production of synovial fluid to protect her knee, if needed. JJ's a ten!
