Val Ackerman, former WNBA president, was commissioned by the NCAA to conduct a comprehensive assessment of women's basketball. Her report was released in June. It addressed strategies for the game's continued growth, which range from trying to improve training at the youth level, to how the college game is officiated, to the format of the NCAA tournament.
Yesterday, a group of some of women's basketball top coaches, administrators and NCAA personnel met to discuss the report and move forward with some of the ideas Ackerman proposed. The group voted on several issues. Their recommendations will be passed on to the NCAA committees that govern the sport for possible implementation.
