Up first: ART U

The Cardinal kicks off the new season on Saturday afternoon, November 7 with an exhibition game against a first-time opponent — the San Francisco Academy of Art University (ART U) Urban Knights.

The game is at 1:00 pm in Maples. It will be streamed live by Stanford Athletics and broadcast by KZSU.

As an added incentive for coming to Maples to see the game live, there will be a Behind the Bench session after the game. Actually, it will be an In Front of the Podium session in Kissick Auditorium, because the men need Maples for a scrimmage right after the women's game.

There is a tenous link between the Cardinal and the Knights. ART U entered the world of collegiate athletics just eight years ago as an NCAA Division II member institution, with Lindsey Yamasaki (Stanford '02) as its first women's basketball head coach.

That link no longer exists. After three years as head coach, Lindsey left basketball for the business world and was replaced by ART U's current head coach LaNay Larsen

The Knights are a good Division II team. They won their conference championship in three of the past four seasons. They are led this season by a quartet of four-year senior guards, Jasmin Guinn, Zoie Sheng, Sha'Nice Storey, and Regina Camera.

Here are the Knights' roster and statistics.
