Up first: UC San Diego

The fun starts again at Maples on Friday at 6:00 with a family affair — an exhibition game between the Cardinal and Heidi VanDerveer's UC San Diego Tritons. This will be just the second time that Tara and Heidi oppose each other as head coaches.

This is Heidi's fifth season as head coach at UCSD, an NCAA Division II school.

The game is FREE for kids 8th grade and under. Bring all the young fans you know to Maples on Friday and pick up their free tickets at the box office.

If you're a season ticket holder, you can pick up your complimentary free plastic tote bag before the game at:

• Varsity Lot (outside the Sunken Diamond, near Pac-12 Plaza flags)
• Outside the southwest entrance to Maples (closest to Maples Parking Lot)

Don't leave too early. There will be a "Behind the Bench" session after the game. I expect that Tara will introduce the newbies — Anna, DiJonai, Mikaela and Nadia — and answer any and all questions.
