Team Cardinal trounces the Tritons

Everyone (except Mikaela with her sore plantar fascia) played, everyone contributed as the Cardinal defeated the Tritons 105-56.

The biggest stats were registered by a member of each class:

  • Senior Nneka scored 17 points and also had five rebounds, two steals and a block.
  • Junior Joslyn had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. She's credited with just one block, but I saw her make at least three.
  • Sophomore Chiney headed the stats with 19 points and 14 rebounds and also had a steal and two blocks.
  • Freshman Bonnie (aka, Quick-hand) scored 15 points on five of seven 3-pointers in ten minutes of play.
It was a fast-paced game, especially by Amber, Jasmine and Alex, as had been predicted. The Cardinal's good defense (and a four-inch or so height advantage) held the Tritons to 31% FG and 27% 3PT.

The freshmen not only played well individually, but meshed as members of the team — they've made great progress in learning the plays. Amber's point guard performance was especially impressive. She had seven assists with just two turnovers in her 18 minutes of play.

Here is today's only game report, from Stanford Athletics.
