The Pacific Tigers brought their best to Maples, but it wasn't good enough to seriously challenge the Cardinal, who won 78-43.
The Tigers' strong defense kept them in the game for the first twelve minutes. After they narrowed the scoring margin to three, Tara called a timeout, and the Cardinal settled down and went on a 17-2 run.
Chiney played an amazing game. She was not to be denied in spite of the Tigers' double-teaming her whenever they got to her in time. She scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her sixth consecutive double-double. She also had two assists, stole the ball three times, and blocked a shot.
Mikaela gets stronger and more determined with each game. She had two career-highs tonight — 13 rebounds and five assists. She was also credited with three blocks.
The Cardinal's long-range shooting wasn't on tonight, partly due to the Tigers' defense. They missed all of the few they attempted until Sara sank one late in the game and Bonnie hit another one a few minutes later.
Midway through the second half, Taylor ran over a defender and tumbled to the court, head over heels. She lay quietly for a few moments as trainers checked her head and neck, then stood up and was assisted to the locker room.
