Opals wrap up perfect group phase with win over Japan

Things were close throughout between Australia and Japan in their final match of the group phase, but the Opals proved to be steadier in the end, 83-74. Alanna played for only the last three minutes of the first quarter and put nothing on the score board. She headed for the locker room just before the end of the first quarter, but returned soon with nothing apparently wrong to account for her absence from the rest of the game.

Australia and China were the only undefeated teams in the group phase. As the winner of Group B, the Opals will face PRK of Korea (#4 in GroupA) in the quarter-finals early Thursday morning at 12:45am Pacific Time
