Heavy showers followed by prolonged sunshine
Cardinal 75, Red Storm 49
- Nneka lifting the ball high up into the basket ten times for a game-high 22 points.
- The only double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) from Chiney on her 19th birthday.
- A typical "I do it all" performance from Kayla — 14 points, eight rebounds (29 more to go) and five assists.
- Jeanette wasn't at her best in this "slug it out in the paint" game, but added two more three-pointers to her impressive season total (four more to go).
- From the Sisterhood: Chiney's putbacks of Nneka's infrequent misses ... Nneka's putbacks of Chiney's
- From Mikaela: A long-contemplated three-pointer that put the Cardinal ahead for good with five minutes to go in the first half ... a layup that fell through the hoop as she was more or less flying out of the court upside-down.
- Mel capped the game with a career-high two blocks in the last seven seconds of her last game at Maples.
- #5 North Carolina defeated #4 Kentucky 86-74 and will face Stanford in the Sweet Sixteen in Spokane.
- #11 Gonzaga upset #3 UCLA 89-75 and will face either #7 Louisville or #2 Xavier in the other half of the Sweet Sixteen.
