The road to Denver

The Cardinal will set off on the road to Denver as the #1 seed in the Fresno region.

Their first-round game is in Norfolk VA at the Ted Constant Center against #16 Hampton on Saturday, March 17 at 10:30 am PT. You can buy tickets online now from the Stanford ticket office.

If  they win that game (one game at a time!), their second-round game is against either #8 West Virginia or #9 Texas on Monday March 19 at 4:00 pm PT.

If  they win that game, their next game(s) will be in Fresno at the SaveMart Center. You'll be able to buy tickets from the Stanford ticket office on Tuesday, March 20.

If  the seedings hold true, they'll play #4 Purdue in the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday March 24.

If  they win that game and the seedings hold true, they'll play #2 Duke in the Elite Eight on Monday March 26.

If  the seedings hold true, the Final Four in Denver at the Pepsi Center will be Stanford vs. Baylor and Notre Dame vs UConn.

Cal was selected as the #8 seed in the Raleigh Region. Their first game is at Notre Dame against #9 Iowa.

Here is the bracket.

It looks like we were the 4th #1 seed.. My way of thinking that the NCAA AGAIN, is downgrading Stanford and the Pac-12. If it all goes down with the form sheet, we will be meeting Baylor in the semifinals which could be a good thing. Tara has proven that when she has time to make a good plan, opponent beware.

Wouldn't it be great if Cal can upset ND in the 2nd round.. and they could.!!!

I'm really confused by the brackets. The bracket with the link in this article seems to show, if the seedings hold, Stanford playing UConn at the bottom. But the brackets from the ESPN site (PDF) seems to show Stanford playing Baylor of the left side. What am I missing? Thanks, Ken

The Final Four pairings are Fresno winner vs Des Moines winner (e.g.,Stanford vs Baylor) and Raleigh vs Kingston (e.g., Notre Dame vs UConn).

ESPN's brackets are very confusing. The "basic" version (which I link to) has the advantage of showing game times, but the Final Four pairings are wrong. Their printable versions (pdf or gif) which are linked to in the basic version don't show game times, but the final pairings are correct.

I hold onto the faint hope that ESPN will correct their brackets by tomorrow. If not, I'll try to find a better one to link to.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad you knew which one was correct. Ken

Any chance some video of Hampton can be posted on this website before game time? I'd like to see how Hampton plays.

I can't find any Hampton game videos -- sorry!
