Nov 10: Added a game report from the Boston Globe.
The Eagles took advantage of the Cardinal's poor shooting and sloppy ball-handling during the first quarter and gained a five-point lead. Then the Cardinal found their rhythm and went on a 28-0 run led by Amber and Chiney. They were ahead by 20 at the end of the half. The Eagles recovered after the break and out-scored the Cardinal a bit in the second half. But that wasn't enough to make up the deficit, and the Cardinal won 83-71.Amber had a fabulous game. She came within one rebound of a triple-double with 19 points on eight of 12 shooting, ten assists and nine rebounds. It would have been the first Cardinal triple-double since Nicole Powell tallied her sixth one 12 seasons ago.
After a slow start, Chiney found her game and ended with 30 points on 11 of 12 shooting, 14 rebounds, two blocks and three steals.
Bonnie was the third-highest scorer for the Cardinal with 15 points. She made three of seven 3-pointers and all four of her free throws.
Mikaela was a fierce defender (10 rebounds) and effective shooter (three of six). She could have easily tallied a double-double, but she missed six of her eight free throws.
The Cardinal out-rebounded the much smaller Eagles 44-26. All in all, they were much better from beyond the arc than last week, making six of 19 3-point attempts — Bonnie's three, two from Amber and one from Karlie. But they were terrible at the free throw line, making just 17 of 31. Fortunately that wasn't a critical factor in this game. but ...
Chiney, Amber, Mikaela, Alex and Kailee started again. Sara came off the bench for 12 minutes. Taylor, Erica P and Briana did not play.
