The gallery is closed

From Don Anderson:
Maybe it’s not necessary for someone self-appointed to a self-created job to announce retirement, but what the heck.

After five years and about 20,000 photos posted I guess it’s time to stop. It’s been fun while it lasted, and during these years I’ve enjoyed the privilege of a unique relationship with the coaches, with the kids on the team and their parents, and with other devoted fans. From this point on, when there’s a women’s basketball game I’ll leave my cameras at home, resume my full time seat in the stands, watch the whole game (not just what I can see through the lens of a camera), and boo the refs to my heart’s content. I trust that some of the other avid photographers in the Fast Break Club will now contribute to the “Photo Gallery” on the club’s web site.
Don's photos have added so much to our enjoyment of Stanford women's basketball. I doubt there's any team in college sports whose activities have been recorded so beautifully. Thank you, Don!

Don's gallery is not actually closed – it's just dormant. There's a link to it in the lefthand column of the FBC website home page. So you can continue to enjoy Don's photos of the past five seasons.

Next season, as Don suggests, the Fast Break Club is planning to create a shared online gallery to contain contributions from selected photographers. If you take game photos that you would like to share with fans of Stanford women's basketball, please contact Bob Stevens

I will miss your point of view, Don, but completely understand your desire to be just a fan again. I have loved reviewing the game with your images. You are a very talented artist.

Thank you, Don. You really did a great job with the gallery. It's easy to understand that maybe spending all the time taking pictures is not the best way to enjoy a game, though.
