Wind up Kayla and Nneka and turn them loose!
Kayla played 40 minutes, scored 23 points on 60% shooting, had 10 rebounds, three assists and a block.
Nneka played 39 minutes, scored 22 points on 67% shooting, had 14 rebounds, three assists and a block and has reclaimed her place as the leading Pac-10 scorer – now 18.2 per game.
Joslyn had her first collegiate start, and played a good solid 34 minutes. She was the only Cardinal to hit from beyond the arc. She made two of her five attempts, scored eight points, had nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
The team did not appear to be seriously discombobulated by Jayne's absence, although their shooting percentage was down a bit from their season average. They handled what must have been a brand new game plan easily and stayed comfortably ahead of Cal the whole game.
The game was no sellout, but there was a large and enthusiastic crowd. Official attendance was 5100, but it looked more like seven or eight thousand to me. There were close to 1000 Cardinal fans, including a solid block of about 70 Appel family/friends wearing "House of Jayne" t-shirts.
