Tara tried many different rotations today, none of which had much trouble coping with the smaller, less athletic Broncos. The Cardinal took control and won 92-57.
The self-declared "sisters" led the way again. Chiney had 22 points, seven rebounds and four steals. One of her field goals was a long jumper, just a foot or so inside the arc. Her most dramatic one was a layup at the end of a steal and fast break. She made 64% of her shots.
Jos made 82% of her field goal attempts! She played inside most of the time, but moved out for a couple of long-range shots, one of which she made. She also had four rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
Amber led the offense beautifully for 25 minutes with six assists and two turnovers. She also matched her career-high scoring with 18 points on 64% shooting — from the inside and the outside, from the left and from the right. And she stole the ball twice.
Jasmine got 24 minutes of playing time. She mostly played the 2 to Amber's 1, but took the point part of the time. She looked smoother and more confident than in the previous three games. She had three assists and no turnovers. She took the ball off the dribble in a twisting drive to the basket for a layup and her first points of the season. So pretty! And she did it again two minutes later!
Erica played for 18 minutes. She got her first points of the season on a high-arcing jumper and scored again later on a drive to the basket.
Mikaela played for 14 minutes and looked like she's well on the way to her potential. She played strong defense — seven rebounds, a steal and several blocks (By the way, the official box score shows a total of four blocks for the Cardinal, but there were way more than that.) Mikaela also scored six points.
Kiran played the last minute of the game and scored her first collegiate points on a drive to the basket.
The Cardinal's three-point shooting was better than against Fresno State, but not terrific. They made five of twelve attempts — two by Sara, one each by Jos, Amber and Bonnie.
